While staying in our mini-hotel, in the shadow of the majestic Saint Isaak’s Cathedral, which stands as if on guard over the everlasting beauty of Saint Petersburg, you find yourself in the very heart of the city, where the magnificent constellation of the squares forms a so-called Stellar Ensemble.
There used to be five, and nowadays there are three squares – the Isaakievsky, the Senate and the Palace Squares – that are the witnesses of historic events and the guardians of the olden days…
Here reigns the spirit of the sumptuous imperial capital and of restless noble Decembrists. Here is the domain of the supreme architecture, the masterpieces of great architects - the creators of our city (Rossi, Montferrand, Rastrelli)... And here as well there is one of the greatest world collections of paintings and sculptures, the collection of the State Hermitage, just in 15 minutes walk through the Alexandrovsky park or along the Neva embankment.
At the corner, in the Myatlevs House (otherwise called the House by Saint Isaak’s), one can find another collection: a famous literary salon dating back to the Nikolai I epoch. Pushkin, Zhukovsky, Krylov, Vyazemsky, best intellectuals and talents of their time frequented the place.
And a little farther on, lived Lomonosov, Gogol, Nabokov, each of them in his own time....
Now you can sojourn here, possibly leaving your own mark in the history of the city, or at any rate imprinting your own history of the city in your memory.
